First-Second Grade
Color Wheel Turtle
Due to Covid, many of the students knew of the color wheel, but they had never experienced it! After watching a video, students mixed their own colors, then decided to use markers to create their own color wheel turtles with the knowledge of the primary and secondary colors. They were tasked with creating the turtle's design and their shell all on their own, without a base!

Finished Turtles
The students really enjoyed the vibrancy of the markers, as the paint's purple was 'too dark' to see anything. They really enjoyed creating their turtles with any design as they want, as it was within parameters just enough for them to allow their creativity to flow. Building the base knowledge of the color wheel early allowed them to reference it the rest of the quarter if they ever forgot!
