The Precise and Consice Beauty of Math

Though much different than teaching on an elementary or secondary level, instructing my fellow soon-to-be art teachers was a beneficial experience. It was teaching math (which I didn't know how to teach) in its relation to art (which I did), so it was a helpful way to learn to teach unfamiliar way. This lesson was taught with a fellow classmate and was based upon chapter 8 of Art Centered Learning Across the Curriculum.

The lesson lasted a class period, around 1 hr 30 minutes in late 2021. Methods for connecting art to mathematics is presented in the powerpoint, as well as in the handout. The activity for the day was creating repeating tessellation patterns with note cards. Included is the lesson plan, powerpoint, and handout passed to the students in class. I've also included some finished tessellations.
