Student Teaching

Audubon Elementry

For the entire 18 week period for placements, I attended Audubon Elementary, a CPS school on the Northside of Chicago. Mr. Hill, my cooperating teacher, allowed me full freedom in creating my lessons. I taught the 3rd Quarter, which meant that I was the student's main teacher for more than 2 months. I created a curriculum with over 15 lessons for 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 7th graders in this time.

Student Observation

Due to the teacher strike, I started a little later than most. I spent this time observing Mr. Hill, my co-op, and learning techniques. I taught 2 lessons in this time period as most was observation.

Student Teaching

I taught then entire 3rd quarter of grades 1, 2, 4, 6, 7. Due to covid, many students had to build up many skills beyond art techniques in the art classroom. 1st grade had never been in the art classroom before! Check my curriculum grid for my lessons.

Student Observation

Finishing up the semester, I resumed observations. Under recommendation, I visited Lane Tech for 2 days to observe high school art in action.
