Sixth-Seventh Grade

Drawing- Self Portrait

Most of the 6th and 7th grade students would have already worked on shading and self portraiture. Due to Covid, however, the curriculum was a bit jumbled and they don't have much experience. Nonetheless, the students worked hard and began to build skills of matching values to photos. They also learned about beginning graphite techniques such as blending with different H and B pencils. This intro to drawing will be expanded upon in 8th grade.

Finished Portraits

Students were initially self conscious to create portraits, as one would assume middle schoolers to be. Due to this, students had the opportunities to draw themselves with or without a filter- you may notice some of them have a 'Disney' look to them. They traced the photo, used the windows as a light-box, and then shaded the base.
